Im building My house. It’s a two story with a full attic. My thoughts are to someday have a bedroom and bath in the attic, sort of a guest room maybe. Usually this area would be cold, or not heated. My thoughts were to insulate and put a vapor barrior on the second floor ceiling, like the attic wasnt even there. The attic would also be finished, although not heated unless needed. Is there any problem with two vapor barriors, one for the ‘floor’ of the attic, and one for the ceiling?

Okay Fred I found you again talking about attics.!!! Gotcha. I see you opinion is not well stated. Insulate the roof tight as a tick and be done with it. I think I agree but I need more research to be sure.
*Thanks for the reply.....the climate is northern mn....where it quite often is well below 0 f. (the coldest I remember was -60 a few years back. The reason I was thinking of trying to keep the attic in its own zone so to speak, is because it's an extra 1000 square feet or so that I probably wouldn't finish right away, and even if i did I wouldn't need to heat it that often. I will already be heating 6-7000 sf. I noticed that just about everything talked about at this site has many different opinions. If a person has an attached garage, do they not put a vapor barrior in the garage wall where its hooked to the house?..... or do they include the garage in the envolope and heat that to?..(kind of an attic garage analogy)....not arguing with you Fred...just looking for more input from anyone who might have anything to say
