Does anyone out there have a source for vertical grain douglas fir
veneer ? I need to make 2 custom interior flat panel doors to match
existing. (Similar to the F-82 style).I would prefer 1/2″ G2S plywood,
but living in Pennsylvania it’s got to be easier to ship DF veneer from
its source in the west. Also, how about 4/4, 6/4, or 8/4 clear Doug
Fir for cabinetry ? Our local mills cut wood from Malaysia and Madagascar
but just try to get something from Oregon.
Thanks
Tim

Tim-
Where in Pa are you? I think a couple places near me have some pretty nice Doug. fir.
*Tim: While Orygun is very pretty, the only slicing of DF out here is for door rails with Japanese horizontal slicers. Most of the slicing logs are shipped back to Ohio, Indiana etc or Japan for processing. Our enlightened Economic Development Department was more interested in funding a single university position than to support a market analysis study on need/pricing of west coast species for sliced veneer. Too bad we were taking about 80-140 jobs in a small timber dependent community. But that's government. For them, more jobs means more government jobs.

*I have a few thousand board feet of 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4 old growth VG Fir (have to bow my head when I say that). How much are you looking for, and what size?
