My shiny 23o.z., hickory handle, with Head-Handle Interface Technology, Magnetic Nail Set, Side Nail Pull, CHISEL TIP CLAW and SIDE NAIL PULL AAARRRGGGHHH, AAARRRGGGHHH, AAARRRGGGHHH just arrived today. It’s good to be alive.
P.S. what type of metal is the head?

Stainless to be more preciseKevin Halliburton And with that, the great emporer Oz gently floated away on a curtain of hot air, laughing at the unfortunate ignorance of little people beneath him. But under his breath he cursed that stupid little dog...
I'll get another when they're titanium!
Stiletto man here
I bought a Doug right before and it did seem a bit easier on my arm than the 24oz Dalluge but nothing like a wood handles Stiletto.
I'm gonna email Douglass right now and see if they have one in the works as the design is just the best.

You forgot the "D" shaped head that lets you set a nail with a corner - much smaller waffle mark. Not a particularly important feature but it helps things look a little cleaner overall.
The downside is that if you're the only one with a Douglas it's pretty obvious who it was beating around the bush when you miss.

Golden, that reminds me of one thing I didn't like about the Stilleto. Although I loved the magnetic nail thingy...I didn't like that little slot in the center of the head. I musta attempted to deep drive a nail a thousand times only to be thwarted by that dang slot. The tip (front leading edge) of the hammer head is an important detail. I'm not sure what your talking about when you say the "D" word, but I wouldn't mind a hammer that had the ability to deliver a very hard pinpoint blow.
I do use my hammer claws quite often to accomplish the nail set task, but I cant swing with as much force in the situations that I'm trying to describe.

END OF ALERT!
The Douglas has the magnetic nail starter on top too but it's on a D shaped head. On that last swat you just roll your wrist ever so slightly forward and land with that outside corner, on the knuckle side, for a perfect set.

Stainless steel - around $65. I ordered mine through Tool Crib and the shipping was free.
It is a refined version of the old Hart Woodie invented by Todd Douglas Coonrad. Here the site with all the details http://www.douglastool.com/. Our local lumber yard is pushing a new titanium that is 16 oz instead of 14 oz. saying the extra mass helps
thought extra mass was not what titanium needed. In a few years they will probabally be making 24oz titaniums !!
