What is the best material to use for dovetailed drawer box construction for kitchen cabinets? The painted cabinet drawer fronts will be screwed to the boxes after the fronts are painted. The plan is to machine dovetails in the fronts and machine a dado in the back; will have full extension undermount slides.

For drawers that see a lot of use, like in kitchens, I like red oak or maple.

Baltic Birch ply is good, solid maple is great.
I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone,
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone;
I can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone,
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. (Phil Ochs)
