how do I install a drain line for a washing machine in a basement. The existing drainline for the kitchen (above basement) is about 7′ above the floor. I am in Houston, and this is a first for me.
Is there some sort of inline pump?

You may be able to just connect to the existing drain line - read the owners manual - most washing machines will pump up some distance ... Bill.
I assume that your kitchen drain continues down somewhere and that "somewhere" is towards the main sewer line that exits the house at a level below the basement floor. Try to find the most convenient spot to tie in to this sewer line -- this may result in you rethinking the location for the washer to make it closer to the drain. (I was forced to cut a trench in my basement floor about 8' long to install a washer drain to an existing floor drain.) I'd be careful about using a sump. If you do, make sure the sump will hold more than your washer holds, since a washer may pump faster than the sump pump can. Also, although a washer pump could pump for some distance, pumping up too far could result in backflow into the washer. May be time to call the plumber? Just some thoughts - YMMV.
