There are a number of ways to achieve a level foundation and mudsill.

Try some of the woodworking supply mags such as Rocklers, Woodworkers Supply .............
I think you could make one much easier then ordering one though.
Doug
I made mine out of 1/2"particle board. Use the draw bolt as kind of a pattern as to how much to span. I used a plunge router with a half inch bit.
I bought one cheaply on eBay.

A company called TREND makes all those kinda jigs for countertop construction, just google them. You probably have heard of them.
i couldnt find that company, did you say trend? i googled trend countertop constuction to no avail...
It won't be that hard to make one. It will probably take less time and effort to make than to track one down.
I would make two. One a dogbone, to use when the two halves can be laid out ahead of time, and one (half the dogbone) that can be used on individual halves.
Assuming you have a 35-mm drill bit it won't take half an hour to make them.
My favorite material for templates is the 1/4-in mdf with the white vinyl facing. You can layout directly on it. It is dimensionally stable, and void free. Plus, I usually have a scrap or two around to use.
I don't do many countertops but how hard could it possibly be to do this freehand?

time is money, i ordered the one from fastcap for 10.00, i couldnt make it for that price. the forum pays off again!
Good.
Now send $20 to me and I'll see it gets put into the general BT fund...
What I was asking was why anyone even needs a template at all. Couldn't the counter be cut freehand with a router in a few seconds?

and I say why bolt them at all?
just makes them harder to take out in 20 years
a template is much faster, & more accurate, i need to do a dozen or so.
Pete
Your right, you can do them freehand if need be. I've done it in a pinch but it is a bit easier if you have the templete, and if you do them all the time it does pay to have one.
Freehand wise I just pencil in what I need and go to it, doesnt look as nice as one made with a template but it does the trick.
I made mine out of plexi and it works just as well as anything you can buy and it probably took less time to make then the OPer spent typing his request on here.

Here's something along those lines:

i just cut them freehand with a router and a 1/2 inch straight bit, hey its not rocket science
