I need to drill through some ceramic tile and
wonder if someone could tell me what kind of bit
to use. I’ve never done this before! Thanks, Mi

There are several out there. But the old carbide tipped masonary bit with a good rotohammer is what I see the tile men using.
*There are bits made for tile and glass that are sort of like a combination of a masonry bit and a small spade bit. They have the advantage of being pointed. Ordinary masonry bits want to walk badly on the smooth surface. If you use a hammer drill, set it for drill only or you risk breaking the tile. You must make a little starter chip with a punch, which can risk breaking a tile. For larger holes, there are hole-saws for tile.

Thanks guys. Sounds pretty straightforawrd.

For more aggressive cutting, break off one of the "wings" on a masonry bit. Use both hands or the drill will torque your wrist.
