I am having a metal roof installed on my home right now. The roof line on the eave is slightly uneven and once the fascia was installed you could see some spaces between the fascia and roof sheathing. I was hoping when the drip edge was installed it would maintain an even reveal against the fascia and everything would look great. The roofers said they couldn’t cheat the drip edge and it basicly follows the wavy roof line and the reveal isn’t exactly perfect. Anyway I don’t have a lot of experience with metal roofing, I’m just curious if this could have been prevented.

Want it all now don't-cha..............................in my best palin-esque.
The ends of the metal roof panels are cut square, 90 degrees. The drip edge is put on a straight chalk line so the ends of the metal roof panels line up with the drip edge. The lengths of the drip edge cannot be bent and the ends won't lap evenly together if they are not fairly straight. If the drip edge was pushed tight to the crooked fascia, the ends of the roof panels would have to be cut to fit the "wave" and there may be more visible uneveness where lengths lap together. You only see gaps looking up at where the drip edge does not touch against the fascia when the drip edge is put on straight. If pushed tight to the fascia and the panels cut, the entire edge of the roof line would look crooked from the street. The only way to have both is to have a straight fascia which might include a rebuild of the soffits as well as shimming out the fascia. That would be an extra and maybe beyond the skills of a roofing crew.

It only takes a little bit of shimming - certainly beyond the skillset of some 'roofers'! But not hard to do at all. It just takes time and a brain.
Roofers won't fix a wavy roof unless you pay extra for it since it's often not a simple task. They also won't replace or adjust your facia for free.
The only thing you could have done is to have shelled out the extra cash to have things straighened up....should have been brought up before they started so you're all on the same page.
