Anyone have any experience with aluminum drip edge warping, presumably from the heat?
New asphalt shingle roof installed last fall, brown aluminum drip edge.
Upstate New York new construction. Started noticing it about a month ago. In places the dripedge has warped out from the fascia about 1 1/2 ” in places. Not isolated to any one area.
Any ideas? Fixes? Looks like crap.
Thanks

Andy,
I was wondering if you replaced the old roof with a heavier weight shingle? Since the drip edge was straight when the work was finished, maybe the overhangs are sagging due to some type of weight change and causing the dripedge to warp....
Just a thought,

I've had aluminum fascia cover buckle where it laps.
If the fascia cover is lapped, and a nail is put through both pieces at the lap, it will buckle when the sub fascia dries and shrinks.
I don't know if that could happen with drip edge. Guess it depends on what exactly it's nailed to.
It was put on cold.
Now it is expanding in the heat. Sounds like they did not use slip laps or nailed poorly so the deformation from thermal stress is showing at the face

Maybe I already know the answer.. But, can you recommend any kind of fix? Even something just to make it look a bit better.
What should have been done diffferently to avoid?
If the ends of the pieces are butted tight together, taking a 1/8" nip out would let it relax some as a first step.I also suspect that there are only 2-3 nails holding each piece. If there is any way to work up under the shingles without hurting them, a nailing schedule more like 12" OC would also help

drip edge's nailing schedual is doing (bound in places) that or the roof deck is moving..
