Drippig sap from beams milled on site. What do I do? I sold the house and the beam in the center of the living room is dripping sap on the Persian Rug. The buyer is really upset.

it's going to keep dripping until it feels like stopping.. wrap it so it won't drip on the rug..
when it stops.. clean the beam with turps or mineral spirits..
have the customer's rug professionaly cleaned.. apologize.. but explaint that ""wood is wood""
and you'll do the best you can...
*We have three such rugs, two are hand made in Persia, about $3000. The other (under the dining room table) is a cheap Chinese machine made one, $30.First, look near the middle of the narrow edges of the carpet. If you find an oval with Arabic writing in it (Farsi is written with the Arabic alphabet), you have a hand made rug, and the writing is the name of the town where it was made. No name, and it's a relatively inexpensive machine made rug. If it's hand made, look at the thickness and the size of the thread. Thin and small thread means more hand labor per square inch, and therefore more expensive. Even in the very worst case, if you have to replace an expensive hand made rug, the old one can be cleaned and re-sold. Strangely enough, they actually increase in value with wear and age, up to a point. So how do I know all this about rugs? My wife is Persian. Where is this located? Perhaps we can find you a local expert.-- J.S.
*xJohn, many hand made rugs aren't signed. Including a 110 yr old Bijar 4 x 23ft I paid 14K for and was offered twice that 1 yr later, and a 1930's Kashan 10 x 14ft that I inherited, took in to be cleaned and repaired, and was offered 18K as it sat there dirty and ragged. How do I know? Chon man zanan o havaye Iran doost daram. Va farshha hamchanin.
*Ditto and try a little shellac over the knots but you're going to have to wait it out, like Mike said, wood is wood.Gabe
*Are they maple?Hang a little bucket and make some syrup.Just kidding. As said.......It ain't over till it's over. You'll have to wait it out.Ed.
