I own a 2 story colonial style house with an all brick front. The house is 8 years old and has a forced are furnace in the basement. Here is the problem: About 1 minute after the furnace kicks on I can hear a dripping sound in the wall where the duct work runs up from the basement to a second story bedroom. As soon as the furnace kicks off the dripping sound stop. There are 2 ducts which run from the basement inside the front wall (which is bick on the outside) up to the second floor bedroom. The dripping sound only comes from 1 of these 2 ducts. I have taken apart the duct work in the basement and it doesn’t seem to be wet inside. The walls are insulated with fiberglass insulation. Any idea what is causing this dripping sound and how can I fix it?
Thanks.

I can't believe you posted this question. The exact same thing happens in my house...in my bedroom! I'm thinking something like a wrapper is lodged in the ductwork somewhere as the sound stops as soon as the blower shuts off.
Possibilities,
As the long ducts from the basement to the next floor warm from the heating cycle, they expand against the framing.
The blower developes a vibration that transmits to the vertical duct.

Can you borrow a stethascope? Or use a dowel rod for some bone conduction so you might better hear where this sound is actually coming from.
