I am adding a bathroom in the basement and need to drop the ceiling about 8-10″ below the joists above. I don’t want to use a suspended ceiling due to rust potential from humidity and I just think that a sheetrock ceiling would be better.
My question is how to frame it? Can I just nail 2×4’s to the sides of the studs? I have done a fair amount of DIY framing that has all passed inspection, but I am stumped on this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated
