I'm not trying to hijack your thread but I would like to also ask, how far is too far of an exhaust run to exterior wall? Sorry,:-)
In the installation instructions you will see a table or formula that tells you the total length limit and the conversions for subtracting length for the elbows.
You get too far and you probably need an aux exhaust to boost the flow. Fantech.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Thank you! Great intel! I'm attaching a deck to exterior wall above the dryer vent and had been thinking of extending metal tube out and away from house/deck; to avoid problems w/ moisture buildup between deck boards. I still might, I may now probably install aux. vent assist. Thanks guys!
Last week I replaced half the decking on a couples deck that had rotted due to the dryer exhaust that was located about 6 inches above the deck. Damp lint in all the crevices caused the problem. Direct it away from the deck, somehow.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
Check the specs on your dryer. It will tell you how far you can run and what to deduct for each 90 degree elbow.
Regardless of the length to the roof or exterior wall, look at a Fantech catalog. They have booster fans to deal with your problem.
BTW I would vent through the roof, it's generally a shorter route and the damp air can't reenter through a soffet vent.

around here you can go 40' if dryer manf. ok's it.look for a dryer vent box ,that gives you a 5' credit.larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
40' with smooth aluminum, but with letters that big, you might have to use a booster fan ! ! !
