We have a gas dryer that has been sensitive to air resistance from day 1. The solution for the last several years has been an 18ft run of 6 inch straight heating duct, but now the dryer is acting up again. Is there any kind of booster fan available (must be able to stand up to lint)? What is everyone else doing?

What do you mean by "acting up"? I had dryer issues that I thought were related to the venting; turned out it was the thermister (a $25 plastic part). Go to http://www.repairclinic.com and describe the situation. They should be able to help diagnose the problem. They also sell parts at reasonable cost (and quick delivery).
http://fantech.com/ has booster available if you need it.

The first test I run when people have dryer problems such as slow (or no) drying, is to disconnect the vent line and put a panty hose leg on the dryer exhaust. If the performance improves (and sometimes it's a dramatic improvement), the problem is usually solved by cleaning the vent line. Other problems can include too many bends, too long of a run, and installations using that @#&^ plastic covered coil of wire. (That stuff should be outlawed!!!)
