$.07. But I've seen it go higher or lower.
Gosh I hope you are joking. I was hanging in the late seventies for $.07 a foot. Mike
Trust in God, but row away from the rocks.
Remodel or new construction? What area do you live in?
About $3 a square foot.Supplied, installed and finished. Deduct the cost of drywall for installed and finished.
Welcome to BT Jackson!
Actually it wasn't me who asked the question about the cost of drywall. I think you meant to respond to the OP (Original Poster); the guy who started the "thread". You hit the reply under my previous post where I asked what area and new construction or remodel?
Regarding the initial question - the cost of drywall installation, I (as the builder) supply my own board, but even adding that to what I pay for labor (hanging, finishing, etc) it only comes up to a total of ~ $.75 a square foot of wall or ceiling. That is new construction, no ceilings over 10'. My point being that the cost of this stuff varies greatly based on geography and the specific situation.

It is new constuction. And I live in Mississippi.
Living in MS, you can use Matt's numbers and be quite safe.
I just figured a job (I'm a GC in upstate NY) and my cost for materials (board, mud, fasteners, tape, corners, specialties, primer) comes to .41 per square foot, and that is beginning with just the board, delivered, at .31.
My labor cost for hanging, taping, priming, disposal, and all cleanup, then adds .95 to that.
That .95 obviously gets down to something like .35 when you move into areas of very low cost labor.
BTW - in my area we pay one sub to hang, cleanup, finish, cleanup again, and pointup by the board. Not by the sq ft. Only problem with that is you have to watch your takeoffs, and board usage. It is a fairly big ticket budget item, so it's important. For example, if you end up with 6 extra boards downstairs and 6 short upstairs, guess what :-( - you just lost $100 and 2 days off your building schedule... If you are lucky.
You really need to get with a local sub though for pricing.
In the mean time here are a couple of recent discussions on drywall:

Take what you read with a grain of salt... :-)
I just got a bid for 2.42/ft for new construction-turnkey.
I am in Mississippi, the price varies according to the type of job, who does it and lots of other things. The lowest cost would be a new house with eight foot walls. The highest cost would be a ceiling repair on a tall ceiling. Tell me what kind of area you are refering to.
Thanks everyone for your responses.Handyman, what part of MS are you in?
