A month or two or three ago there was a discussion thread that I cannot find about drywall finishing prices. If I recalled correctly from the thread it was reasonable to charge $1.50/sq ft to finish DW that has already been hung. Can anyone confirm that is an accurate recollection? I know the price varied, but in general I believe that was the price or thereabouts.

here in the land of oz, .80-1.10 will buy it hang it and finish, but a average house doesn't cost 750k! larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
It varied a lot. $1.80 supplied, installed, finished here.
I'm trying to figure the value of my DIY efforts. 32 sf times $1.80 equals $57.60 for a 4 X 8 sheet. If the sheet costs about $6.00 (say), then my labor is worth about $50 per sheet. (I know I haven't factored in the cost of mud, tape and screws).
Am I on the right track?
The prevailing rate here is higher than elsewhere. The M.O. in most places is to have low-priced help that hangs the board and does the taping, maybe some better guys to do the finishing, patching, careful stuff. So, if you're doing it yourself you may find you are recouping a fairly low rate. A drywall contractor would figure in a fair amount of overhead too. One of mine delivers units of board with a boom truck. There's also the question of disposing of scrap. Here it's almost more expensive to throw board away than it is to buy it in the first place.
$21/board hung and finished (12' boards) here in MD
$10/board is for hanging
$11/board for finishing
so ~ $.43 / s.f. hung and finished, and they bring the mud, tape, glue and screws. unless its a small job, the drywall guys are hard to beat.

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about this. I have since learned after 7 estimates or lack there of. The job is a basement finish, 1900 sq.ft. (600 ceiling, 1300 wall). 5/8 type X DensArmor Plus ( 60 sheets, 4x10's ). Paid $20 a sheet, moved them all with one helper to the basement. First estimate to hang/veneer was $3000.00 total cost to me $4200.00. Second estimate was was for $2300.00 which included having the DAP returned and 1/2 blueboard used instead.!!!!!!!!!!!. The next four estimates weren't. Each one told me they hadn't seen DAP before, nor used it. They didn't know what to give for an estimate. The seventh estimate was for $3700.00. Total cost to me $4900.00. So I am looking at a sq.ft. cost ranging from $2.20-2.60.
