The FH annual “Houses” issue shows a project in which a tiled “tub” in the laundry room is shown in use with the owner giving the dog a bath.
I know of a project being built here with a dog shower in the mudroom, and I quoted a house a while back that did not get built, that had one like it. Both were floor-level affairs.
The one in the magazine, though, makes a whole lot more sense, because it is double useful.
With its deck somewhat off the floor, a hanger rod overhead, and being convenient to the washing machine and dryer, it serves as a drip-drying tub for clothes and other stuff. Because it is elevated, it can function as a large sink, sort of a janitor’s sink, for cleaning mops and used-wet brooms.
And of course, if Fido or Brownie is energetic enough, they can hop right up for their shower or bath. If your stinky old lab is too feeble, and if you aren’t ready for the nursing home yourself, you ought to be able to pick up the dog to get it in the tub.

Plus a 2yr old that was in same mud puddle as old lab.
I agree, when I saw that I showed DW she liked it. We have three Mini-Dachshunds...who love to dig. I think the height above floor would be decided by the Animal/dog breed. For ours I would like it higher. They are not hard to pick up and miserable to bend over or kneel next to. Now if were a German Shepard it should just walk in.....
Been there and done that. This house was out in the country and these folks had six Great Danes. They were not in the breeding business. They were just small horse size pets. The dog bath/shower was in a simi-detached combo barn/shop/garage and raised as you described.
You pretty much took your life in own your hands when approaching the house. They would almost knock you down and lick you to death.
