Got a 3-segment dome in FL…client set the room arrangement and I’m just formalizing it. The middle one is a wide open LR, with a door to the front and to the back. The side ones are bedrooms. He “selected” a Trane 3-duct A/C unit before we even started, but could be talked out of it.
Running that duct to the side domes is…what’s the word…tricky? The door prevents running the duct along the outside shell. The openness prevents running it through walls (there are none) or with a chase along the non-existent walls. Open ductwork isn’t his style. Could go under slab, but that’s more expensive and the water table’s high. Could go with hydronic fan coils instead of the Trane, but they’re more expensive. Could go split system, but that’s more expensive, and the load is low…likely 1.5 Ton or less. Casement windows, so window AC is out.
Am I missing other good options?
