The Friedrich M36TCE is a fine unit (I just sold 8 to a contractor doing some assisted living work for the county). Go to their website http://www.friedrich.com/ and down load the manual for the installation of the Tri-zone system. Read it over and then make sure that you undestand all that is involved, though it is very simple. The only need beyond basic plumbing and electrical tools is a vacuum pump and the necessary guages/hoses/manifold to evacuate the systems prior to opening the service valves and letting the precharge "out".
Thanks for the information, can you tell me anything about price.
List price for the M36TCE is $4860, a contractor might buy that for 40% off of list. If you walked in my store with cash or a credit card, your price would be $2995.00
I just finished putting in a 9K BTU ductless heat pump to replace a noisy window unit in my detached office building. The unit is a Hitachi mini-split from http://www.genieac.com , and I did the install and hired a tech to come out and charge it. Local yokels wanted $1500+ to do the install, even though the system sells for about $550 with shipping. The tech charged me $125 for pumping down the lines and set up, and all is working well. The mini-split is much quieter than the window unit it replaced, and it saves on heating costs down to about 32F.
I'm sure if i'm wrong someone here will correct me... but all of the units i've seen all "look" the same... leading me to believe most people are just branding the same units... the ones I've seen upclose are all imports even if they have a domestic name... there are alot of these listed on ebay... usually priced around $450 a ton
