Anyone use Duluth?
I love them (no, I don’t work for them).
The “Rolling Gatemouth” toolbag I bought several months ago is the best tool box/bag I ever owned….beats out my Kennedy boxes by a mile. I’ve had it about six months and absolutely love it…..has wheels and a telescoping handle and tons of side pockets inside and out. I don’t use the inside side pockets for anything heavier than a screwdriver of knifes and chisels though.
I’m looking into buying the “Skillers work vest” and pants with padded knees and accessories. Anyone bought those items yet?
The new catalogue is great..check it out and let me know what products you recommend.
Be off to work (downstairs/outside : )

I have ordered a number of things from them, But definitely get on the mailing list of their parent company Gemplers. Gemplers.com. Couple of times a year they have a hundred page or so flyer with just Carhart workwear and a couple (10) pages of gloves and respirators that cannot be beat.
I get the impression that Gemplers has a staff that takes a few select products, repackages them and markets them to the .... yuppie tool buying market. Kinda like restoration hardware. That is just my impression though. Happy to be wrong on that.
Plus their (DuluthTrading.com) website has decent bargain bins. 25-75% off sections.
Very good customer service from Duluth and fair prices. Plus, their catalogs have great covers.

Andy,
Becareful with that rolling bag. I have the same one and the telescopic handle bent on it. Now it only comes out half way and it is a bear to pull out and put back. Mine is thin wall aluminum square tube. Perhaps they changed the design???

Andy,
I bought 2 of the canvas riggers bags with leather bottoms. I HIGHLY reccomend them. I have had them for about 4 years---I use one for misc. sheetmetal tools,seamers,snips,prybars-------my usual weirdo roofing tools that none of my workers own. I use the other for a bunch of small carpentry tools, screw drivers, chisels, a plane, misc coping saws.back saws, files, rasps etc. I am very happy with the set up---but I would like the large interior compartment to be a little easier to access.
I bought a big hook which clips on your belt and lets you hang a air gun or a cordless drill on your belt without a holster----works OK---but not great in the long run.
I have been using a brown canvas briefcase---bucket boss brand I think I got from there. works pretty good---but I have to be carefull with the zipper which opens ALL the way up if the bag is overloaded and the zipper isn't closed far enough. I am pretty satisfied but would replace it with somewthing better in a heartbeat---if I could find something better
I have the skiller work vest and the only time I won't wear it is in the summer as it can get awlful hot and smelly but the rest of the year it is way more comfortable than a belt and you can get in and out of the truck with it on. When I am not wearing it I put over the back of my truck seat so I have easy access to tape and other tools.

You rock, I've been looking for a new way to carry my note pad, spec's, various other peices of paper I always seem to loose in my current folder type organizer. Never thought to look at Duluth
This is just the ticket.

Similiar stuff at office depot etc, all look like they will fall apart getting tossed around.

I've had mixed luck with them. I like some of their stuff, but have had horrible service.
I have a set of their nail pouches that are O.K., but nothing to brag about.

I've had no problems with them at all.
I've always wanted to order the Barnstormer's Jacket they have, but it's hard for me to trust just a drawing of it.
I'd also like to know about the Skillers padded knee pants, if anyone has a pair.
I've got the canvas duck pants.
The knee pads are great. Hardly notice 'em until I kneel. Then they do a very good job. Just the ticket when setting finish, installing receptacle outlets. Or doing datacomm jack installs.
The double front pockets are a PITA, as I wear a set of bags on a belt (Diamondback), and not the Skillers pouches. I'm thinking about cutting off the "flip out" pockets.
The duck fabric is wearing well.
Next pair will be the nylon/cotton blend--no double pockets. Don't know if the blend fabric will be as comfortable as the all-cotton duck.
I tried a set of thin foam pads that slip into the knee area of double front Carhartt's. A poor second chioce--you've got to open the seam a little at the bottom of the double front, and once you get the pads in, it's a pain to get 'em out. And the pads are thin; better than nothing, but nothing like the Skillers pads. The pouch for the pads on the Skillers has a velcro closure on top, so it's easy to insert & remove the pads.
I think the Skillers are worth the $60, but then, I'm over 50 and the old knees aren't what they used to be.

I spent the last two days changing out every receptacle on three floors. My knees don't feel bad, but sometimes it would help to have a little cushion down there.
Building knee pads into pants is a great idea. They're always there, they don't slide down my legs, and they don't have a cinch around the back of my knee. But the super-tough fabric (corduro or something?) is really terrible. It is mostly plastic, and doesn't breath at all. In the spring or fall, I'd get sweat dripping out of the bottoms of the legs. I couldn't wear it except in the depths of winter. I finally threw away the Skillers pants, but kept the kneepads. I sewed pockets on my (cotton) overalls, and that's where the pads are now.

Been using Duluth for years...lots o` great products...I especially love their gatemouth gunner bags for my pnuematics. Keep an eye on their prices though....they have a tendency to be a bit more costly a lot more often then I thought.
This month they`re running a special on the "Ironclad" gloves....well, one of the knockoffs anyhow....$15.99 I think...great price, I`m gonna pick up a pair or two of the "framers".

If you like those gloves you should go to walmart and look through their weight lifting gloves . I found sets with wrist wraps and terry cloth for sweat and the tips cut out for less than 5$ a pair and even got 2 pairs on clearance for 2 bucks a pair.

I love their Bucket Boss line. I want an open mouth tool bag but theirs is too small for me. And the bigger one they sell is a worthless model also sold at Homey. Plastic boxes strapped to the SIDE of my tool bag? Who dreamt that worthless feature up? I'll tell you who. Someone who was designing a product to sell to HOMEOWNERS instead of PROFESSIONAL TRADESMEN!
I've bought lots of stuff from them and always been satisfied with both goods and service. Bucket Boss, grip gloves, gel knee pads, and the large cap. All good stuff.
