I need to put up some corbells on the dormers I figure that 14 should do it but when I checked out the cost of buying them it was well over $1500 dollars. Since I have a whole lot of wood and more ambition than common sense is this the time for me to buy a duplicarver and carve out my own or is there a better brand etc.
Maybe I’m being stupid and it takes almost as much skill to run a duplicarver as it does to hand carve one in the first place.. (I have zero skill in that area.. but since not knowing how has never stopped me before…)

I don't own one. Friends who have, found that the final clean up was excessive. I was never sure that they had the best bit. Seen some pretty ugly work come off of one. If you want to reduce the hand work substantially, it looked like reasonable help. Just don't expect finished goods.

How far up and how much detail do you need?
If there up fairly high and you arnt looking for a lot of detail you can probably handle it, seems like you are doing OK on the other stuff you never did before.
