i wasn’t sure but they sure looked like mats to stamp concrete and for the $3 who knew… I got em today… all 7 of them a complete set and the one mat without the back loops is the soft flexable mat for corners… each mat is aprox 6SF not too bad… last time i priced a full set they were around 2k

I got a older bostitch brad nailer with a box of bostitch brads for 1.25 on ebay. Works perfect.
pony... what are safety mats designed for .. and what do you use them for ?
Mike, your eyes must be petering out.
They're not safety mats, they are stamped concrete mats worth 2k. He paid $3!
That's a great deal!
Put em back on ebay and you could probably pick up quick grand.

jim.. maybe that's what they are..
however, the description called them , and pony called them ... " safety mats"
and he said they COULD be used as stamping plates..
he also said that : " safety mats " like these he last priced at $2K

You may want to re-read the original post
Um... Blue,If they didn't sell on ebay for more than 3 dollars the first time, what makes you think he can turn around and sell them on ebay for two grand ?;o)

A proper description.
They obviously aren't "safety mats". The seller didn't know what he had.

I read Blue's post to say you could pick up a grand - to me that would mean you would have to list for $1003
Funny to see the different ways people are reading things on this thread
What items list for and what they sell for on Ebay are not always related.
I have listed thousands of items at a quarter each and many of them sold for hundreds of dollars.
The trick is in knowing what you are selling and putting in a very accurate and honest description.
I understand.
The point of my post to Luka was that to make a quick grand it would only have to SELL for $1003.25 not $2000
Was really just reading this thread and finding it interesting how people seemed to be reading the same words in different ways
I should have said SELL for $1003 not LIST
Well long as we are talking semantics - have you actually listed THOUSANDS of items on e-bay? What type of things do you sell?
Pretty much off topic, but for about three years, I sold SCSI hard drives on Ebay along with a few other odds and ends that I picked up along the way.
At the time, there were lots of online auction places trying to compete with Ebay. I found a lot of my drives on these other sites or at local computer flea markets. Some, I found used external SCSI cases, installed the hard drive in that, formatted it for a MAC, and sold them for about 3x to 10x what I had invested.
That sideline all ended when my suppliers either went bankrupt or wised up and started selling on Ebay themselves. It was a lot of work but great money while it lasted and quite educational.
I always wrote my own descriptions in plain and simple language and made sure I listed anything that might be out of the ordinary or something that might limit it's use. Then I started the auction at a quarter. There were lots of times that the drives sold for more than retail and I never lost money on any of them. Knowing the market and buying at the right price is the key to making money on Ebay.
Thanks for the response.
I don't have a lot of experince with ebay. I have sold one thing and bought maybe 3.
Was curious what you would list thousands of, and was wondering if it was a full time business. Get a pretty good idea of what you were doing now. I often find things at a very good price and think I could sell them on ebay for more - just always seemed like too much hassle.
I do understand the concepts and agree with Blue that with a proper description - the original poster could probably sell the concrete stamping pads for a pretty decent profit.
The SCSI drives were a good match for Ebay. They sold for hundreds of dollars each, the demand was high, and the shipping charges were only a small fraction of the cost. It has to be something that is worth your time, because it does eat a lot of it. It took time to do the research, time to find the right deals to start with, time to write the descriptions, time to watch the auctions and answer stupid questions, and time to box and ship.
if you looked at the ad i purchased them from... these people I assume buy tons of lost/damaged freight... they start every sale @99cents... i just happen to be looking at something else when i spotted them... and the picture only shows 2 mats no idea of size... wrong description ect... but i have a pretty good collection of concrete stamping mats so I knew what they were... but i still thought i'd only get 2... with these things more is better but i've done good work with only one mat...
anyway... when the box... had to be over 100lbs got here yesterday... just kinda made my day one it's a cobblestone pattern which is perfect for my lofts since they are on the mississippi river and everything down here is cobblestone, two, a full set of 7 mats I've never sprung for 7 mats when i knew i could work harder and use 2-3....
I know u guys get sick of my stories but hell I'm southern and it's an artform i embrace... and I learned anything you do has great value if
a. no one dies that shouldn't
b. it's not your momma or sister involved
c. you get a story out of the adventure... if you are very lucky you will live to be 80 plus... if you are blessed you will have children, just like your parents did (have kids that is... not kids like your parents kids)... since so few of us will have a statue in the park of our likeness, the best we can hope for is that our stories will continue to be told for at least a generation past our passing...

It didn't work for me either and all I wrote was the abbreviation for the old German National socialist party. What's next? Liberal and conservative turning into ############ and ###########?
