Any feedback on electric radiant floor heat for a bathroom would be appreciated. I am doing a remodel on a bathroom for customers that want radiant heat. There are several different companies that supply mats, anybody used these?
Warmfloor, warmlyyours, and Suntouch are several that I’ve seen in magazines. Please give me your feedback.
Thanks, StevieG

I cannot comment on brands. But, make sure your client knows that these under tile heating systems are only to take the chill off of the tile floor, but they are not high enough wattage to be the sole source of heat in the room. You still need regular heat from the central system to keep the room itself warm.
"You still need regular heat from the central system to keep the room itself warm."
Is that based on experience? Warmfloor, at least, advertises that their system can be the primary heat for the room.
It is not from experience. It is from reading I've done. If the manufacturer advises that it can be primary heat, that is a credible statement. It would depend on the wattage, the surface area of the floor that would allow the mat, the insulation and surface area of the outside wall(s), and the climate. The contractor could do an estimated calculation to see if it is reasonable.
The electric radiant heating in the floor is a great way to make the bathroom feel more comfortable. It is good for the feet and feels good and doesn't cost much to run.
I have installed them in my bathroom floor and also mounted an "Enerjoy" ( http://www.sshcinc.com) electric radiant heating panel in the ceiling. The panel gives off long wave infrared heat and feels great when you come out the the shower. 600 watts and you can run it on a timer.
The ceiling mounted panel and the floor heat makes for a very comfortable bathroom.
Check out the towel warming holders too!
