I am doing some remodelling that includes pocket doors using two french doors. I need to put in electrical switches on that pocket door wall. Is there an electrical products company that makes thin boxes for use in such places? I need a box for four switches. Thanks for the help.

I believe that the electrical code (box volume) would conflict with your plans. Consider an externally mounted box or a hybrid (some in, some out).
*Investigate low voltage switching. Maybe just maybe it'll do what you want. Ganging the boxes might be the tough part. Just a thought.

*Hey, Fusco! You're such a wit, and you offered so much to solving Richard's problem. Other witty lines to try: "Sez you!" "Am not!" "So's your old man!"
*Just curious Barry,What's the difference between Joe's reply, and yours. Both (as you say) offer no problem solving to Richard, and both contain "witty remarks". The only difference I see is that you directed your remarks directly at Joe. I did not see Joe post anything directed at you, or belittle you in any way.People here get awfully mad at Joe for some of his posts, but I have read them, and even been to the archives to read some. What I found is that if you don't start it, he pretty much leaves you alone. When someone attacks him, he lets them have it with both barrels. Just my humble observation...James DuHamelPS - Richard: here, electrical boxes for switches or outlets is not allowed by code in pocket door cavities. I have seen older homes with 2 x 6 framing that had the clearance for them, but 2 x 4 framing is cutrting it awfully close. Maybe you could build a decorative box of some sort on the outside of the wall, and mount the switches there.James DuHamel
*Try Wiremold switch boxes recessed into the wall.
*I know of no "slimline" electrical boxes, other than switch boxes, which are only about 2 1/2" deep, and fit nicely into a 2x4 cavity, and if you buy the right kind, can gang together. I would increase the wall thickness and do it right. I know of no code requirement here in SoCal that prohibits swiths in pocket doors, and indeed have built several that have passed inpsection here. To save space, I use 14-3 Romex and run the Romex to a switch box in the crawl or basement, and then disbursed to the various load sources.
