My question is about supplying electrical to a detached garage from my home electrical panel. I have about a 120ft between the building, and plan on using #4 wire for a 60 amp service. My question is what needs to be done for grounding the new electrical service in the attached garage? There are no metal water pipes connecting the two buildings together, just a phone line, cable line, and plastic gas line.
This is what I planned to do:
1. Use a 60 amp breaker in home panel.
2. Connect 2-#4 wire to 60 amp breaker in home to 60 amp breaker in garage for 220 in garage.
3. Connect #4 wire to neutral bus bar in home to insulated neutral bus bar in garage.
4. Install branch 4 branch circuits from the panel in garage.
Does this sound like the standard procedure?
Do I need to install it’s own grounding rod for the garage panel?
