Hi all – for those who were contributing to the “Reality check” for electrical subs thread I started a couple days ago – though you might like to see what the basement project will look like in SketchUp.
(by the way – the electrical situation is under control – I took a closer look on the second walk-through and found that there should be adequate romex already routed for the existin (but minimal) basement lighting that the sparky can tap into for the new cans)

Justin,
Be sure to check with your sparky to see if he WILL tap into existing
wiring.... Mine won't or at least he doesn't like to. His reasoning is, he has to
warranty everything he puts in. He likes to run a new circuit so he knows whats his
responsibility and whats not. I'm OK with this because if breakers start tripping,
if I contracted the whole basement job and subbed the wiring to him I would get the
call for warranty work first!
He might do it for a few cans, but when ya start adding recp. he won't.
Are those stairs going to the "sub"-basement? Forget the electrical problem you have other issues!!

I don't follow Stu? Only half the stairs are drawn in, because I needed to keep the underside open to show available closet space.
Is that what you're talking about?Justin Fink - FHB Editorial

It looked to me like the stairs were going down??? Probably just my skewed vision of the world. Don't mind me... just 2cents. Stu
