I need to upgrade the electrical service in an old house from 60 amps to 100-200 amps. Does this require bringing in new wire from the street, or is is all done inside the house?
Thanks,
Paul

if need be that will be handles by the power company...
you'll more than likely put in a new SE, meter and weather head...
BTW.. is the current service from the street buried or airial??

For overhead service typically the HO owns the mast and wires in it, the meter socket, and the wires to the panel. Those all need to be upgraded.
The utility copy then provides the meter and overhead wires. Now that is for one within a reasonable distance from the power lines.
But this all varies from power company to power company as to exactly what they supply or don't supply and what fees, if any, there are for upgrading there part.
When I had it done to my house they started where the wire from the pole /street attached to the house, reused the old meter, everything else was new.
