I work in the water damage restoration business & have questions about this engineered hardwood flooring. Insurance companies have set industry guidelines for how to handle water damaged hardwood floors (we can usually dry these back to pre-loss condition, except in extreme cases). With laminate (Pergo-type) floors, we are required to remove and discard. My business has only had two losses involving enginneered wood floors, and both times the insurance co’s initially instructed us to dry them, only to authorize removal after several wasted days of drying. Once removed, the subfloors are further damaged and require extended drying time, as well as repair. Is there anyone who knows definitively if these floors can be saved, refinished, etc? Maybe you know of a website, etc that may be helpful? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
