Out here in Hawaii we have to get all plans “sealed” by an engineer or architect. That can run $1-1.50 or more per sq. foot of house. Is this typical elsewhere on the mainland? Seems like you take your $600 of plans from a plan book and then add engineering $tamp$ and it adds up fast if you don’t buy the plans first locally. What are people paying to get these off-the-shelf plans or self-drawn plans approved?
