I made an unfortunate aesthetic mistake in a bathroom tile installation. The 2×2 floor mosaic, which runs directly into the curb-less shower, looks bad compared to the decorative horizontal band on the shower walls. It is a matter of color and pattern running in the two areas. Can I paint the floor tiles a different color with epoxy paint? The kind used on garage floors. Will it hold up to water use in the shower? Other choices are to: 1. Live with it. 2. Rip out the expensive 5/8″ decorative mosaic (no grout installed anywhere yet on the project), and replace it with something else. 3. Lay a new tile floor over the old one (and rig up some kind of raised drain).

Depends on how expensive replacement is, v. how expensive epoxy would be and how long it will last (especially when scoured) and how expensive recoating the epoxy will be.
Of course, you can always use very low wattage lights
Normally painted tile looks like painted tile. Epoxy is the paint of choice to not peel off too rapidly.
In this case there is a SLIGHT chance of it turning out looking fairly well, since you'd be painting before grouting.
Do be aware that the paint will not wear nearly as well as tile.
Rip out the tile.
Hey, you made a mistake, it happens. But now is the time to fix it right.
If you intend to live there and use the bathroom, in the long run you would feel better having ripped it out and started anew. Otherwise you will never truely be satisfied with what you have now. And painting over tile always looks like a hack job, imho, fwiw, and all those othe internet abbreviations.
