In the back of David Gerstel’s’s book “Running a Successful Construction Company,” he recommends the book:
Estimating for the General Contractor
by
Paul J. Cook
R. S. Means & Company
He then makes the claim: “Read Cook’s book and you will understand what it means to do professional-quality estimating.”
Has anyone read this book? Was it well worth the time reading it compared to other estimating books?

I've never really gotten any good use out of a estimating book, too many variables, too many x=this, y=that, subtract this if your left handed, etc....
The best method ive come up with so far is figuring out what I need to live on. If you think about it thats the bottom line, doesnt matter what the book says if my kids are living in my vans by the nail guns.
Read the former but not the latter.
