Warm weather is here in southern Colorado.
When we turn on our window mount swamp cooler at night after a few hours the “beep”, which I thought was just to indicate low batteries (hard wired detectors with battery back up) begins to go off.
We shut off the cooler and in awhile the beeping stops. The actual alarm doesn’t go off, just the beeper.
As far as I know, the cooler only pumps out cooled air and moisture. How would that get the beeper going?
As you can imagine, we are already tired of being awakened in the night by a beeping noise that we can’t shut off…

Is the detector sensing particles of moisture in the air, thinking it is a particle of smoke?

I was thinking along the same lines as RRooster--the humidity is making droplets in the air big enough for the detector to sense as smoke.
That could be it, but how would I know?I've never had a cooler set off any smoke detectors before this, nor have I ever heard of it happening. It occurs to me that I don't think it's ever happened during the day. We usually don't run it during the day. We try to cool at night and then shut the house up in the morning. One of these days when it gets up to 95 or so I'll run it during the day and see if it happens then.Wonder if it would work to put a rubber band over a plastic bag over the detector... not so good if there was a fire!+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd." Try cleaning it. Blow it out and/or vac it.Might be enough dust that is getting conductive when the humidity level is high.
Just completely cleaned it and put new pads in it, but it was a good suggestion.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd." Voltaire

LOL!I'll look at it, but the house is only 18 months old.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd." Voltaire
Your comment on high humidity improved my disposition. I was under the opinion that you were having a drought out there due to lack of snowmelt from last winter. Have things improved in the last month? I've been waiting the winter in MI and can't wait till I get back.
Dry as bone, chauncey. There's been no snow on the ground on Cucharas Pass for weeks already. As usual for summer, the only humidity comes out of the swamp cooler!+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd." Voltaire
Did you find a solution for this ?? We are currently dealing with the same exact issue. We have a swamp cooler and the beeper on the fire alarms turn on when the swamp cooler is on.
