Hi everyone,
First and foremost, I most thank you all for the tips, tricks and solutions from the past. They have been a great help to me. I have been reading FHB for the past three years and this is the first time I have used their web site.
I am looking for an “Exterior Exhaust Fan” that attaches to a 6″ metal duct. Does anyone know were I can find one.
I am using it as the exhaust fan for the kitchen vent hood. Don’t want all that noise right above my head while cooking and trying to keep up with conversation.
Thanks

Look into professional kitchen supply stores. Or check out the classifieds under retaurant equipment. You should have a used equipment dealer in your area. Could get a good deal.
We have an outdoor fan and indoor hood made by San Yang Pai. I haven't a clue who that is or where you can buy their stuff. The fan looks like a small commercial unit, spun aluminum and all, and is connected to the hood by 6" duct. The hood has controls for booster fans (which are in the hood, and look like the inlet to a jet engine, with curved blades and spinner), which are rather noisy, but aren't needed most of the time. The hood also has a light, and two removable grease traps. The outdoor unit only emits a low rumble and air whoosh, and seems to move as much or more air than the typical Broan all-in-one hood. The boosters, when engaged, will stand your combover up, and makes the system about as loud as the Broan I mentioned before. The previous owners explained to me that they did a lot of Chinese cooking (they were, and I presume still are, Chinese) in open pans, giving off lots of steam and oil, and they needed that kind of air movement. When we redo the kitchen, the outdoor unit stays (love that quiet), but I'll have to see what other hoods I can get that will fit the new decor, with or without fans of it's own. The polished stainless hood isn't to the liking of DW.
Be seeing you...
Check Fantech. They do remote blowers for bathrooms and kitchens.
Several range hood manufacturers (e.g. Thermador and Broan) offer remote blowers for their range hoods. That is, the blower unit goes on an exterior wall or on the roof, so you only get the noise of air movement in the kitchen. The blowers are sold separately, so you could get one to hook to your existing hood. These blowers are standard things, but they're not often ordered by homeowners, so you may not find them on consumer-oriented web sites. Talk to a kitchen appliance dealer.
If you're asking for a remote blower that specifically fits a 6" duct, I'm not sure -- maybe the Thermador VTR600R. Of course, you could easily use a bigger blower that would like a somewhat larger duct. There's no harm in giving it the 6" duct.
