I’m planning to build my own home starting this summer and am considering using Build Max (www.buildmax.com) for help. If anyone has feed back on Build Max, or any other similar system, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks.

I looked at the Build Max web site.
I think there are one or two competitors that might be a better deal, but that will also depend on your location and who has offices in your area.
I plan on using Owner Builder Network. A couple of advantages that I see using them is that they can assist you in picking out the lot, drawing up the house plans, and so forth. They are not just a phone call, you have a representative that comes out to the lot and talks to you in person.
Good luck which ever route you go.
Good points Paul. I'll look into OBN. BuildMax charges 2.75% of the loan amount. Do you know how OBN profits?Anyone else know Build Max, OBN, or other similar groups?
OBN charges $2.95 per square foot of conditioned space. $1k up front and the rest when the loan comes through. The nice thing about the local OBN reps is that they really know their stuff. The rep I am going through knows off the top of his head what the current rate is for all sorts of things and points me in the direction that make sense for what I want to build. Their philosphy is to give you a quality house that is good for 100 years, and also give you the best bang for your buck.
Who else besides OBN and BuildMax? You said "other competitors"...?
The best place to find them is probably at a local home and garden show. Around here, the only other one that I know of is "Build by Owner".
U-Built-It is another one. I has been discussed here several times including a project with pictures, etc. Not sure of the exact spelling.Presidential Homes is another. (Might be President Homes). But it varies from areas to area which companies have franchises.
