Good Morning to all.
My client wants to use a ext. plywood on a outside deck and cover it with ext. carpet . I dont think this is a good idea. Any thoughts from anyone?

Where is the house? Big difference if you're in Arizona or Seattle. Is the deck elevated? How far? Is the deck roofed?
And you would get better responses if you moved this to "Construction" or "General". This section is for Monday morning quarterbacks to give cheap advice on how to better run this forum.

I am in San Antonio Texas. The deck is outside and not coverered . Also it is by a swimming pool.
San Antonio ... I've heard of that place. If the deck slopes enough to let the water run off, it might work. But you.re next to a pool, so thsat means that the ply will get wet frerquently. Probably not a good idea. Why does the client want carpet?

Use a EPDM membrane over the ply.

besides the membrane, use all treated lumber including the plywood, a decent amount of slope and avoid places where water can get caught up in the cracks and stay wet after a rain storm. let it drain through...
