We will be painting our house soon and I am looking for exterior house paint recommendations. The house is located in Florida so it must survive the hot sun, but also survive the rainy season and mold/mildew. The house is mostly stucco, with some HardiBoard siding on the gable ends. I have heard that Benjamin Moore brand is good — has anyone worked with it? Or do you have any other recommendations? Thanks so much.

BenMoore is good stuff, as is Sherwin Williams.
Are YOU painting , or do yow want a painter? Some painters are "brand oriented".

Yep. I am the one doing the painting. I will probably get a small can of Benjamin Moore and try it out and then maybe another one to try. I am only going to paint this house once every 20 years, so I gotta choose the best paint imaginable! Thanks!Sue
Go with SW then..nevet look back.
It is all in the prep.
edit: I jumped, trust a PAINT store, NOT a big box place for what your PARTICLAR needs are..Fl is a far cry from KY and your climate, is harsh.
But I still like SW for most apps in a tough place...
And, 20 yrs? Bon Chance.!

20 years?
As for the high-end list, I am going to add Pratt & Lambert to Sherwin Williams
And have you seen the forecast for another season of rough weather for Florida?
Yes, it looks like we will have another hurricane season to remember. Here in SW Florida, everyone on our street has gotten new roofs. We are last and are on a waiting list for a new metal roof, we have ordered the new windows and are waiting for those to get here, so we can redo the front of the house with Hardieboard, and also tear apart one wall and restucco it, and install new windows there too. Then finally we will get the new roof put on almost a year after the hurricane went through here....It has been almost a year of being on waiting lists and trying to get contractors to come out and give us bids. The guys around here have had enough work for about 4 years I would say. If this year brings more hurricanes to our area, we are going to move to North Dakota! :-)Sue
I was actually so impressed with the reviews it was getting on a thread of the same nature awhile back I wrote it down- Woodperfect Fiber Cement Coating. More than a bunch of happy customers were praising it's performance on the Hardi siding.
Sherwin Williams did not do well in the Consumer Reports Testing, especially considering their high cost. Also I have found that their customer service is not very good. Their Duration paint is not available in all colors.
We went with Pratt & Lambert which was the best rated paint available in our area at the time. California Paints has ranked the highest on CR the last few times they have tested, but it's not available in our area.
I have attached the new Consumer Reports article which ranks exterior paint. Looks like Glidden was the big winner this time.
What's interesting about paint is that manufacturers are constantly changing their formulas to try and achieve the best paint for the least cost. By the time these Consumer Reports articles come out it likely that some of the paint rated has a new formula.
Good Luck.

Sherwin Williams did not do well in the Consumer Reports
I didnt realize that that 3rd party report was out there. The last time I paid attention to a painting question here Sherwin Williams seemed to get the most votes for being the best paint. My own experience with it, while limited to just some trim paint for windows, was that it did not flow like a quality paint at all. It dried with thick brushmarks.
And Glidden is sold by...
HomeDepot.
