Does anbody know the maker or brand name for an extension plate level which extends from both ends to around 12′ – 14′ that is not a stabila. I used one years ago and cannot find another one anywhere. The level collapses to about 4′ – 5′.

Are you talking about Plumb-It ( http://www.plumb-it.com/)?
Ive got one. Been pretty happy with it. Dont know how it compares to the Stabila as Ive never used theirs.
It must be Plumb-it. I have used both, but prefer and own the Plumb-it brand. I buy mine at White Cap, a west coast industrial supply house.
