I am interested in how you folks would rank exterior siding material from best quality on down. Like stone, brick, cedar, cement board, aluminum, vinyl, T1-11, etc. What do you think? Longevity, material cost, installation cost, etc. I am very interested in your opinions. Thanks. Mike L.

Hardiplank is great for holding paint durability looks and even the cost of standard material like 8 1/4" boards isn't too bad. I paid a $1 sq ' Canadian, however install costs up here are very high and so was the hardi shingle used on gable ends. Up here vinyl is king because it's cheep and you get what you pay for. There is a bit of stucco used its close to the same cost of hardi and it holds paint well. Even though where I am we have tons of saw mills very little is used due to install cost and maintenance. Thats about the extent of the product used here other than accent brick and stone. I am located in northern BC
