I am trying to decide whether it is safe to tile a 2nd floor covered porch in a high wind coastal application. Are there membranes that are reliable and, if so, how do your seal the exposed outer edges of the tilework???
Thanks

Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

We are doing a tile deck over living space right now. It is a simple application (no parapet, no penetrations) and the tilesetter is using ProtectoWrap AFM-WM for the membrane. There is a product from Noble called Noble Deck that I would also use. Schluter almost certainly would work also, probably the Ditra material.
Thanks for the info.
In researching Noble deck, it states not to be used in freeze/thaw areas so that concerns me. So far, the Schluter looks like the best alternative. Do you know why you are not using Schluter? How are the exterior edges sealed to prevent rain from breaking down the substructure????
