Looking for advice on how to detail around an Anderson window to make it have the look of an old window with flat casing and long horn at sill. Has anybody got suggetions or tips on how they have done this.??

Hi Bob, I just finished doing a job similar to what you are describing. I made the long horn sills from hand selected 2x6's at my shop by beveling both edges 7 degrees. Next after measuring the length from casing to casing and allowing for an extra 1" on each end I cut my sill to size and notched out for the sill to fit close to the window frame and tight up to the siding. This house had exterior window casing from around the turn of the century which I was fortunate enough to closely duplicate with my shaper. I don't know if you can use this procedure on your windows or not, but hopefully this may help. MDM.

*Hello again Bob, One thing that I forgot to mention is that after you bevel the 7 degree angle on both edges of the 2x6, you can detail the outside beveled edges by rounding them over which gives the sill a more finished look.
