I know that you can locate an air gap for a dishwasher outside as opposed to having it stick up out of the counter. I have been unable to get any details on how to do that. I have my walls open right now and would like to install the air gap now. Any suggestions?

There is a special 1-1/2" elbow with a 3/4" hub as a "T". Typically, assuming dishwasher is against an outside wall, run 1-1/2" drain inside the wall up to 6" above counter top, put on regular elbow toward outside wall, then the special elbow with 3/4" up, 3/4 elbow from that out thru wall. A number of alternate ways to route. Follow local codes, etc.
