I’m considering adding a 100 or so gallon storage tank to my water system for two reasons 1) We’re on a well, in a hurricane prone area and I figure it would be better than 100 milk jugs sitting around, and 2) as a free pre-heat for our hot water.
The recent post about the smelly hot water heater has me concerned-Is there any problem with my plan? I’m assuming the water would warm up to nearly room temperature which can be 90 degerees. It’s just TW and I so we don’t use much water.
Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem if plumbed so water supply runs through it and not an aside where it can stagnate. a person can go through 200 gal/day without much trouble.

It really does not matter. As long as there is large distance between the tank and high flow rates the water will keep running out of the all of the tanks until the pressure get down low enough to restart the pump.
Where you would have a problem is if the storage is so larage that it goes long times between cycling.
The tank would be on the inlet to the hot water heater and since TW (the wife) and I are very conservative on the hot water (cold water clothes washing, etc.) I was thinking the flow would be pretty slow. I'd guess 20-30 gals per day.
Oops, forgot I was going to feed the toilets from the storage tank also - to eliminate condensation on the toilet tanks - so that would raise the usage, but still not much flow.
