Hi all,
I am building a ‘Mussolini’ balcony off my Master Bedroom, it projects out 4′ and it is 3′-6″ diameter. The problem is the facia that is supposed to go around the half round projection. I am using 3/4″ Engineered product everywhere else but it will not bend to such a tight radius, I tried building it up from 3/8″ CDX plywood, but that does not bend well enough also.
Anyone aware of a product suitable for this purpose?
Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
but what is "West" epoxy?
Is it a brand name?
yes, West system 3...the resulting sandwich is incredibly strong, and will need paint to keep it protected from UV
Just Google West Epoxy..you'll see it

I will drive by the HDepo later today and check it out.
Thanks for the advice.

What's the finish material? Inside or outside--assuming outside? If you're covering it, 3 layers of 1/4" obs glued and screwed will also work.
It's outside, north facing.
Deck to the street. It will be covered with a synthetic decking material. 3/4" ply over 2x12 Laminated joists @ 16" OC.
we tried the 3/8 with kerfs and it did not work, either broke the ply or was too faceted.
The next idea was to block in between and put in dummy joists inbetween to get a smoother curve to nail to, and decrease the kerf spacing to 2".
Havent tried the 1/4" plywood idea, or the 1x with real deep and close toghether Kerfs.
Slice 2x12 into 1/8" to 3/16" pcs. and glue up into your radius .
If the patina would be appropriate to your colors, how about wrapping it with sheet copper? It's ideal for going around simple curves.

Same with stucco, if appropriate. We're doing stucco porch bands here right now.
That would be a great finish, however I still think that a solid 'base' is needed to apply the copper, or any other material, unless it is bend to match the radius and of heavy enough gauge.
Maybe curved plywood ribs with 32 oz. copper. Where are you located? Maybe Greencu in KY would be close enough to do it.

I am in Carmichael, California, north.
Quite a ways from Kentucky.
I just spoke to a local Millshop, they offered to heat bend an Azek board to the exact radius. Will fax them a drawing with sizes for a quote. Probably too expensive for the job.
Most likely we will laminate it out of 1/4" plywood.
