A while back I hired out hanging new gutters on my house. My guy’s guy did a good job everywhere but over the front porch/garage, where he pitched the gutter into the corner where the two meet. I asked to have it fixed, and he came out & rehung it with a 4″ pitch over a run of 30′. Looked terrible.
My guy agreed to have a different crew come out to hang the gutter, but suggested that I do something with the facia first. He wanted me to adjust the height of the porch roof (a post at the start of the run) & hang the facia to match the pitch of the gutter. Well…
That was OK by me, I wanted to fix some of the sub-facia that was exposed during the first hanging, wanted to straighten out some of the sag over the porch, wanted back-primed wood, etc. It’s now all done (my part– the gutter’s not on yet) and it looks goofy. Over the 30′, the bottom is pitched 7/8″. This means that the facia doesn’t end up matching up at the far corner. It’s about an inch and a half off– there is some sagging over the garage door.
Which is a long way to get to my question– is pitching the facia the right way to go? I’m about ready to pull it all off & hang it level or (even) follow the roofline, both of which will accentuate the pitch of the gutter.
