Father’s Day gifts….

| Posted in General Discussion on June 18, 1999 07:35am

Sorry Greg – not till they go to college. Neither will you be assured of privacy during bathing, sleeping, or any other activity. You (you BETTER be sharing these “joys” with your wife!) will also rarely get to eat a meal while it is still hot, or drink a drink while it is still cold.

But all in all, its worth it! Happy Fathers Day to you, and may you have many more.

After getting the biggest kick from reading the "Contractor's Wives" thread, and seeing what some of you view as gifts, it made me wonder what the Dad's here are hoping for this Sunday. I'm really quite curious. Do men really want tools as presents??

Mother's Day was made perfect for me by being served coffee in bed, followed by homemade gifts, cards and lots of smiles.

I'm writing this while taking a break from painting the dining room, hopefully I'll have it done by Father's Day.I'm not doing it as a gift...it just has to be done. :-)

    Curiously,

    Beatrix

      *Flowers are always nice.

*BeatrixI'm kind of picky when it comes to tools so I would much prefer to buy my own. Besides, that's kinda like buying my wife an iron as a gift. Now, a dinner of Blackened Marlin or Blackened Sword with about a half pound of steamed shrimp on the side, that's a present!Scott

*Being a relatively new father (9 1/2 months), being able to sleep in past 7 am would be a good enough present for me. Besides, I was already told last week that tools are not allowed as a "first time" father's day gift! And to follow Gerry's path....if you can't do flowers, a card would be nice too.

*Now I'm curious,Fathers Day here down under is in September. Mothers Day is 9 months later.

*Beatrix - I b lovetools for my birthday and Father's day. The bigger the better. I don't want it if Tim Taylor wouldn't be proud of it. I also like other gifts, though. Some attention in the.............ummm............"Marital department" is always nice. But b notthe usual stuff we do all the time. If it's a special occasion, I like a different activity, or doing it in a different place. Just use your immagination.I also like being taken out to eat. But I like to go to my favorite place and eat my favorite food. For me, a special occasion isn't the best time to try a new place to eat.Maybe this is more info than you wanted, but what the heck.

*Hi Beatrix,I want a new Gerber or Leatherman multi-purpose tool for Fathers day. Morning coffee in bed. Gifts my kids made in school. A baby sitter and the night out - dinner and drinks - my choice of restaurant, The blackened fish with shrimp Scott mentioned sounds great. And a 12 pack of really good beer. No flowers. Then my wife in something from Victorias secret. then..............jim

*Breakfast in bed. The remainder of the day split between playing catch or other games with the kids, and swinging in the hammock...No phone calls, no tools, no fuss, and while I'm at it I'll put in for a nice sunny day, maybe just a few clouds, with a light breeze. Lastly, not having to ask for a "beverage of my choice." I love it when they just magically appear at just the right time...

*Lisa,The "joys" are shared equally in our house, with the exception of sleeping in. I have been with my wife for 10 years (married 6), and she has never been a morning person. Me, on the other hand, has always been a morning person. So guess who gets up with the baby??? We were blessed with a "sleeper" from the day we brought her home, but as you probably know, the added chores always get pushed to the late hours of the evening (it's amazing how your wife can sleep through the typing of bids at 1am, but not the baby). My need for sleep has increased dramatically, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Thanks for the Father's Day wishes.Greg
