Everyone making faux stone, whether it is Owens Corning or Eldorado or any of the others, says the same thing about ground contact.
No can do, they all say. Minimum clearance finished grade to bottom of stone is something like 6 inches.
But at their websites, the gallery shots show many installations where the stone runs right to the ground.
What’s going on here? Does this stuff degrade and fall apart if in contact with the ground?
Have you any experience with this?

generally, the problem with all manmade cementious products like this is with water and freezing. Water will wick in and then freezing can bring on flaking or delamination

Hard water will stain the surface coat permanently, and I imagine they don't want to be liable for replacing products with that type of damage. You're not allowed to scrape it clean or pressure wash without voiding the warranty.
