Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming

Make sure the controls etc. are in the top rail. I hate looking at mine in the face of the unit. Brand ???????
With only two of us we don't use the dishwasher. Well, of course if you don't count the storing of all the Corning Ware dishes in it.

do not buy a smooth stainless, it shows fingerprints
Coat it with WD-40. No joke - it's what they do on elevator doors.

I'll second Bosch, though the cycle isn't that fast, and I think you'll top $1K for most models.
Stainless appliances. Wipe light coat of mineral oil on them. Polish lightly. They look great and repel fingerprints etc..
Stainless steel appliances - use stainless steel cleaner on them! Sheesh!

I just bought a kitchen full of appliances for a customer. Got a Bosch ( we use them often with no complaints) and not a one of them was over a grand. Started at about $689 and going up from there.Bosch are high rated by CR if that matters to anyone, and are dependable and quiet.

I have the cheapy stainless frigerdire. It cleans great but all those plastic pieces, I got the appliance parts supplier on speed dial
I've been very happy with my Kitchen Aid. Cleans well and quietly.
Bosch.
So quiet people will open it when its running. Can be had for as low as $950 when on sale
Beware Whirlpool... They catch fire!

Look, just send me to my drawer. This whole talking-to-you thing is like double punishment.
Kitchenaide. Next choice is Bosch. Bought mine 9 yrs ago and have not had to call a repairman yet. Do not have to rinse dishes before loading. Is quiet but has longer wash cycle than some of the noisier ones. Just not certain of prices.
