Any comments on the Fein Multimaster detail sander? Do the “alternative” blades work?
Paint scraper?
Flush cut blade?
Segmented blade?
Carbide rasp?
I will be tearing up a tile bathroom floor. Will this tool with the scraper attachment be useful for tile adhesive removal?

Is this the sander that I think it is? A small triangular pad? If it is, I have a friend who has one. Unlike some of the other detail sanders, it does not use a proprietary method of installing the head. He has put a small circular blade on the end. Since the blade does not spin, but vibrates it is perfeclty safe. (This is the system that they use to cut casts off of human bodies.) But it will cut rigid material such as plastic or wood in very tight situations very accurately.
*Paul, I have the older version of this tool. I find some of the accessories marginal. The unit as a whole is well built to over-engineered. I don't know how some people live without them. The newer blade accessories are of lighter gauge material than the old, non-offset blades; and are much, much less expensive. I priced the non-offset circular carbide blade last Wednesdayand it alone was $40 (yes, US) more than the multimaster accessory PACK! That's the rub. The new accessories are less expensive, but hobby quality. Buy the tool, and buy their top-qualityaccessories.

I bought a Fein several years ago to use primarily for fairing handrails in staircase construction. It is absolutely indespensible and has saved many hours of hand rasping and sanding. The relative high cost of this tool was quickly paid for in saved time. It is nothing at all like any other detail sanders I've tried. Highly recommended.
*Thanks for your comment George. There are likely to be many as yet undetermined uses for this tool. However two in particularfor me are:1) Removing floor tile adhesive.2) Removing a sort of cement patch material on a bad chimney flashing job. The carbide rasp attachment looks like it may be good for that. Is this tool up to this sort of work?ThanksPaul Santos

Paul, in reply to your question regarding the carbide rasp... I wouldn't know. Most soft adhesives melt when sanded, gumming up the works on whatever I use... for example, my Porter-Cable
Clapboard Sander uses carbide disks, and does a fast cut on most paints, but gums up immediately in adhesives or rubber-based paint.
Buy it and try it. The TOOL is a great one, as
Patrick noted.
