As many of you might remember, I’m working with Breaktime’s own Jim Blodgett on an article about wall jacks. Part of my role as an editor is to come up with a reasonably complete list of jack manufacturers. We’re aware of QualCraft, Seattle Foundry, Hi-Jacks and Proctor. Are there others, particularly others similar to the Proctors?
Thanks for your help.
Andy

Mr. Engel,
Try American Manufacturing, Inc.(Mass.). I believe their jacks are similar to Qualcraft's, however, they may have additional products I'm unaware of.

*Andy get a hold of that Blue eyed devil for info on those Mac- Hoists that he has .They look like some pretty stout machinery. And don't forget the Tarzan brand- yoou know go get all the guys you can find and push;-).jim
*I'm here Jim.Andy, the Mac Hoist might be a Michigan company that doesn't have a national marketing strategy. Anyways, i just received by snail mail, a catalogue from National Ladder and Scaffold Co. They have a toll free 1-800-535-5944 number to call. They sell the Mac Hoist and it is priced at $592 for a pair that has a 36' cable. The units with a 50' cable are priced at $628 per pair. I recently got a new set of MAC 50's for $600 (I think, but it might have been $625) at my nail supplier. I've used the MAC 36 for many years, but will welcome the extra length when I wrestle up those two story great room walls. I might just buy a crane however and donate my Macs to charity!blue
*Thanks guys. I'm hoping to put this article to bed today or tomorrow, so if you know of any others, I'd love to hear about 'em. Soon.Andy
*Hey Blue, I did a web search on both Mac Hoist and National Ladder and Scaffold Co. Got zilch. Do you have a phone # or a town for Mac Hoist? Thanks much,Andy
*I've done that same web search and turned up nothing Andy. The Mac hoist is a mom and pop operation somewhere here in Mi. I listed the National Ladder and Scaffold number in my original post, but you probably skimmed right past it. Here it is again: 1-800-535-5944.I'm going to repeat this, just to make sure you see it. The number for National ladder and scaffold is: 1-800-535-5944 . I'm sure they will pass on the Mac Hoist number. One of the biggest reasons that I prefer the mac hoist is it's small storage dimensions. I can stow them on a shelf because the pole is not part of the equipment.blue
*Thanks Blue, I did see the number for National Ladder and Scaffold, but I was hoping to turn up something I could plug into the article on a Sunday. Well, there's always Monday. BTW, and apropos of nothing, it snowed here in CT for most of the afternoon. Who thought that was a good idea? At least it wasn't raw and snowy yesterday when we had 10 seven-year-old kids over. Andy
