Most of my 1/2 done dream home’s exterior is done with AAC and covered with stucco. However, there are about 6 squares of bump outs and eve that I had decided to cover with Certinteed random shake (fiber cement).
While reading the installation instruction I noticed a paragraph that says:
” All
is sealed with our proprietary sealer. Even with this sealer the product can become saturated if not protected during storage. Do not install while wet.”
OK here’s the question. I’m in the middle of the Gulf hurricane zone. Do you think it would get so wet during a hurricane it would mess something up, or fall off, or other horrible things? It’s a product I’m completely unfamiliar with.

The instructions are i regards to storage. Do not store where it can get wet and do not install it IF if does get wet.
After properly installed and painted, it can handle the water, other than immersion/saturation.
Installing it wet can prevent a good paint job, can lead to delamination from freezing in colder climates, or mold growth behind it in warmer climates

Piffin, this was the prepainted and pretreated stuff. I wasn't supposed to have to do anything to it once I put it up.Tigger
prepainted or unpainted - if you follow instructions you will do fine.See, if rain hits it on the wall, it sheds right on down
But if it is uncovered and stacked on pallets, it is steeping in water so much more soaks into the material.
